It’s no secret that there has been a lot of talk in recent months about the current state of the U.S. Ski Team. Positive or not, the discussion spurred by a Facebook post written by Dan Leever has made people across the country to take a real, hard look at ski racing in the United States and add their two cents to the conversation regarding team culture, financial transparency at U.S. Ski & Snowboard, and the newly unveiled development system, Project 26.

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard CEO Tiger Shaw’s own admission, this discussion “changed (his) life overnight.” Last week, at the 2018 U.S. Ski & Snowboard annual Congress meetings in Park City, Utah, Ski Racing Media sat down with Shaw for an interview covering these very topics and how the organization plans to tackle them in the coming months and years.

“Just talking about it isn’t going to make it happen,” Shaw says. “You need everybody to have an attitude to participate and an attitude to do the heavy lifting and an attitude to do it every day in a very frank, honest, and fair way with each other. Like I said before, it’s like a muscle; you have to flex it, you have to work it or it’s not going to grow.”
