Federica Brignone Sidelined with LCL Strain and Bone Bruise
While training on the Zermatt glacier last week in Switzerland, Italian Olympic women’s giant slalom bronze medalist Federica Brignone fell during a run of super-G and has suffered a left-knee injury.
Brignone was immediately tended to on the hill and an MRI was taken at the Aosta hospital back in Italy which showed a small stretch to the lateral collateral ligament of the left knee and a strong bone contusion on the same leg.
A brace will be applied to Brignone’s knee for the next 15 days, during which he will observe a period of absolute rest. The knee will be re-evaluated within two weeks ahead of Brignone’s possible departure for the Italian team’s South America camp, scheduled for August 31st.
