dsc_6404(1)DENVER — The University of Denver will host the NCAA West Regional/RMISA Championships during the 2014 season, the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association recently announced. This winter, collegiate athletes in the West will compete in meets hosted by Utah, Montana State, Colorado and New Mexico in the regular season before the NCAA Championships will be hosted by Utah.

The new season begins at the University of Utah Invitational with alpine events at Park City on Jan. 4-5 and nordic events at Soldier Hollow on Jan. 4 and 8. Teams will then travel to the Montana State Invitational from Jan. 10-12., with the RMISA alpine qualifier on the first day at Big Sky, and the alpine invitational races to follow. Nordic events will be held at Bozeman, Mont., on Jan. 11-12.

The teams will wrap up January and begin February at the University of Colorado Spencer J. Nelson Memorial Invitational from Jan. 31-Feb. 3. Colorado will host nordic events at Steamboat Springs from Jan. 31-Feb. 1, while the alpine events will be held at Winter Park on Feb. 2-3. The second RMISA qualifier of the season will also be held at that time at Winter Park on Feb. 1.

The following weekend the teams will conclude the regular season with the University of New Mexico Invitational from Feb. 7-8. Both alpine and nordic events will be contested at Red River, N.M.

The University of Denver will host the NCAA West Regional/RMISA Championships from Feb. 21-22. Nordic events will be at Minturn, Colo., with alpine events at Beaver Creek.

The season will end in the same place it all began, as the University of Utah hosts the NCAA Championships from March 5-8. Park City will serve as the alpine venue for events on March 5 and 7 while the nordic races will be at Soldier Hollow on March 6 and 8.
