On this week’s episode of Tips and Tales, we head back up the Great White North as Canadian podcast intern, Patrick Carry, sits down and talks with a pair of rising young Canadian Ski Team talents, Simon Fournier and Sam Mulligan. Fournier and Mulligan had some pretty breakthrough seasons last year with Simon breaking through first on the NorAm circuit before making his first World Championship team last February in Are, Sweden, and Sam becoming more and more comfortable on the World Cup Speed circuit, earning starts in Lake Louise, Beaver Creek, and Kvitfjell.

Sam and Simon talk about the necessary dedication to fitness on the national team and the challenges of preparing for the demands of World Cup hills in the off-season. Sam also also shares the story of his first career World Cup race in Kitzbuehel and Simon addresses the controversy surrounding a NorAm slalom win of his where he was later revealed to have straddled a gate and the fallout surrounding that situation on social media. How many of you have straddled slalom a gate in the heat of a race and not realized it?
