The Italian Olympic Committee announced that 2018 Olympic women’s downhill gold medalist, Sofia Goggia, will be an athlete ambassador for the nation’s bid to host the 2026 Games in Milan and Cortina.

The IOC will hold the vote for the host of the 2026 Games on June 24. Goggia will travel to Switzerland with the rest of the Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo delegation, along with 15 other Olympic and Paralympic Champions. The World Cup star will be at the head of the procession with fellow alpine skier, Alberto Tomba, himself a three-time Olympic gold medalist in skiing and legend of the sport. The Italian candidacy will square off with the bid of Stockholm/Are, Sweden, for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Fellow 2018 Olympic gold medalist in women’s slalom, Frida Hansdotter, will also be in attendance for the Swedish delegation.
