Selina Egloff of Switzerland remained undefeated in U16 women’s competition after winning Saturday’s slalom at the 25th annual Whistler Cup. The 15-year-old Egloff also won the super-G on Thursday and the giant slalom on Friday.

The Swiss athlete clocked a two-run time of 1:31.27 while Cassidy Gray of Canada earned silver.

“I never thought coming here that I could win,” said Egloff.

Gray followed her with a total time of 1:32.17. The Canadian had missed the podium by a mere 0.01 seconds on Thursday in the super-G, so she was hungry to get a top three finish in the tech events.

“Getting on the podium was my objective this week,” she said. “I’m so excited I made it especially with the depth of field here and some of the top international skiers in my age group.”

Aline Hoepli of Switzerland was third with a final time of 1:33.40. No American women finished the race.

In the men’s U16 slalom, Patrick von Siebenthal of Switzerland was the victor in 1:30.47, Andreas Amdahl of Norway second in 1:32.46 and Henry Heaydon of Australia third in 1:33.01.

“I was very confident going into the second run,” said von Siebenthal. “Slalom is my best event.”

Wyatt Hall from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail was the top American of the day in 15th place. Nicolas Richeda of Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC)  skied to 31st while Jack Reich of SSWSC did not finish the second run.

Competition ends Sunday with the inaugural U16 Team Event.
