With his retirement from the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup in March, Swiss athlete Didier Defago is moving onto a new role in the skiing world.

It was announced earlier this week that Defago will work as the assistant of Bernhard Russi, designer of alpine courses, to work on new projects in order to make more attractive and safer ski tracks for the FIS.

Russi, a former Olympic champion, has been the course designer for some of the most famous Olympic and World Cup slopes, including the course used at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. He is also chairman of the FIS Alpine Committee.

Defago and Russi recently went to Korea to visit Jeongseon, the site of the new alpine skiing courses where the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games will take place, together with the FIS Race Directors official inspection.
