Ted Ligety and wife Mia Pascoe welcome twin boys

On July 18, Ted Ligety’s wife, Mia Pascoe gave birth to two twins boys (whose names have not yet been revealed). The couple now shares three sons. Their oldest, Jax, is three-years-old.

Ligety made the announcement on Instagram, just a day after joking that his most recent bike injury would make it hard to attend to two babies at once. Yet, Ligety seems to remain enthusiastic, saying that he now has “dad strength times three” in his post.

As of 2019-20, Ligety has cut back on his racing schedule in order to spend more time in the states with his family. The five-time world champion and giant slalom connoisseur decided to focus on his specialty for the entirety of the World Cup season, while simultaneously competing in the World Pro Ski Tour during his time stateside.

Recently, Ligety told KPCW, Park City’s NPR chapter, that his ten days at home and ten days in Europe schedule last winter provided a rhythmic rotation for him and his family, one that he felt that he could handle. But with three kids to now take care of and worldwide restrictions on travel due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020-21 season may look a bit different.

“Of course, three children will be a new challenge in the future, so we will get help in this regard,” Ligety told KPCW in June. “I think, with the reduced number of races it will be a good program for commuting between Europe and the USA, and I will find the right balance between skiing and spending time with my family.”
