Slovenian speed star Ilka Stuhec returned to snow for the first time this week in Saas Fee, Switzerland. The 28-year-old is a back-to-back World Championship gold medalist, winning the 2017 and 2019 women’s downhills. Stuhec suffered a torn ACL in late February after crashing out in the World Cup downhill in Crans Montana, Switzerland.

According to reports, Stuhec’s return to snow went off without issue and she will continue her recovery over the next four weeks in the Swiss alps before ramping up her training in preparation for the opening races of the 2020 World Cup season.

This was Stuhec’s second return from a knee injury as she suffered her first ACL tear after her breakout 2017 season, injuring herself in October of that year. The Slovenian was forced to sit out the entire 2018 season and missed the PyeongChang Winter Olympics that February.
