Stowell, who will be based at Volkl’s West Lebanon, New Hampshire, headquarters, returns to the ski business following a three-year stint within the apparel division at New Balance.

Prior to that, Stowell was the sales and marketing director for Boulder Gear Ski Apparel in Colorado. Stowell is a graduate of Dartmouth College where she was captain of the ski team in mid-1990s.

“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to launch an apparel line for Volkl in the U.S.,” said Stowell. “The foundation has been laid with three years of design/development in Europe. The strength of the brand in the U.S. marketplace is unprecedented. The timing for this endeavor is perfect.”

The line will launch with four distinct collections for the winter 2004-05 season:

— 1923, an innovative “resort” group that pioneers fashion, fit and performance to catapult Volkl into the marketplace. Several styles are reversible which will offer versatility both on and off the hill.

— Supersport, Volkl’s signature look for the most technical hard core skier. Styling comes in 3 different fabrics from Kevlar to soft shell.

— Energy, the core basics of the line, that caters to the sporty enthusiast. Jackets in this collection are offered in 3 different lengths.

— Team, a simple yet stylish collection that represents Volkl’s racer elite.

— Kids, smaller versions of the Energy and Team collections.

“We decided to only bring in collections from Europe that make the most sense for the Volkl brand in the U.S.,” said Stowell. “The line is tight, offering a mid- to high-end style that is technical ski with a twist. One of the best attributes of Volkl apparel is that it is not a billboard line. The styling is clean and classy.”
