Stephens, Devlin-Young win at Winter Park Open

Laurie Stephens (sit-ski) and Paralympic champion Chris Devlin-Young (sit-ski) of the U.S. Disabled Ski Team won super G races Tuesday at the Winter Park Open.

WINTER PARK, Colo. — Laurie Stephens (sit-ski) and Paralympic champion Chris Devlin-Young (sit-ski) of the U.S. Disabled Ski Team won super G races Tuesday at the Winter Park Open.
    It was the second win in 24 hours for Stephens, the former World Cup champion. She won a giant slalom Monday. In the super G, her adjusted time was 1:29.17 with Ricci Kilgore second and Luba Lowery third.
    Devlin-Young had a time of 1:15.26 with Tyler Walker, his former student when Devlin-Young coached the New England Disabled Ski Team, second in 1:22.69. Former U.S. Disabled Ski Team racer Joe Tompkins finished third with a time of 1:23.40.
    New Zealand's Adam Hall won the standing class for the second day in a row. His time was 1:18.44 and Brad Washburn was second in 1:19.94.
    In the women's standing class, Allison Jones was the winner. Her adjusted time of 1:26.85 put her nearly two seconds ahead of Canadian veteran Karolina Wisniewska, who has come out of retirement to race again at the 2010 Vancouver Paralympics.
    The Winter Park Open concludes Wednesday with a second super G.
