After more than 10 years as a coach for the Swedish national team, Fredrik Steinwall decided to step down as head coach of the men’s junior team.
“It has been a very difficult decision to make after so many years of association with such fine colleagues in the organization, but I have received an offer to change jobs and I’ve decided to take it,” said Steinwall. “I look forward to learning something new.”
Steinwall will start working with Recco AB, a company that develops avalanche safety equipment, and there he will work with the company’s portfolio of ski resorts, mainly in Austria, Switzerland and North America.
“It’s very exciting to go into my new position where I will get to learn lots of new things,” said Steinwall. He continued to say that while he will miss this elite team and his colleagues.
For the last year, Steinwall has been responsible for the men’s junior team, which served as an entry-level group in the national team organization, and previously he was head coach of the women‘s team.
“It is sad that Fredrik leaves because he has done a great job for us,” said Heinzpeter Platter, head coach of the national team. “It is coaches like him that we need. He has been a very popular and organized employee with good skills in that he had previously been the head coach for the women’s team and last year took care of the men’s junior. He has had a great contact with the clubs at the national level and with our ski schools around the country. Now we have to try to find a similar replacement, and the work we have already started.”
