Ski Club Vail fills head coaching positions{mosimage}Aldo Radamus, the executive director of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV), announced this week the new head coaches for the club’s freestyle and alpine ability programs.

Assuming the responsibility as head alpine ability coach is Ben Webster. Now in his third season coaching at SSCV, Ben was formerly a nationally recognized competitor from New York state and a graduate of Burke Mt. Academy and Middlebury College, both in Vermont. Ben began his coaching career in Steamboat and after a stint with Elan Skis in product development returned to coaching in 2002. Ben replaces Ethan Beck who re-located this past spring to the Portland, OR area after eight years with SSCV.

Brian Baker, also in his 3rd year with SSCV, has assumed the head coach’s position from Troy Benson, who will remain with the club as head mogul team coach. Brian will oversee all freestyle programs including the mogul team, free-ride team and development team. Promoted to the position of head free-ride team coach is second-year SSCV coach Bart Snyder.

“Ben, Brian and Bart have proven their passion for their sports and their commitment to the community and the kids of SSCV,” said Radamus, in announcing the appointments. “We are fortunate to have such knowledgeable and passionate coaches to work with our alpine and freestyle skiers. Each of them is excited about creating locally focused, world class programs here in Vail.”
