ORGANIZERS OF the World Cup men’s speed races this weekend at Lake Louise canceled Wednesday’s first scheduled downhill training run to maintain the excellent condition of the course, according to an Alpine Canada spokesman.
“The course is in great shape, and we want to keep it that way. To maintain the outstanding work done by our 300 volunteers on the track, we opted to cancel the Wednesday run,” said Guy Napert-Frenette. “This is a precautionary measure to ensure we have the best track there is for the races on Saturday and Sunday.”
Training runs are also scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with the World Cup downhill on Saturday followed by the super G on Sunday.
