NorAm: Canada's Barrett wins 2nd Sunday River GS
Canada's Scott Barrett maintained his first-run lead and held off U.S. Ski Teamer Tim Jitloff to win the second and final NorAm Super Series giant slalom race of the week Friday at Sunday River, Maine.
CANADA'S Scott Barrett maintained his first-run lead and held off U.S. Ski Teamer Tim Jitloff to win the second and final NorAm Super Series giant slalom race of the week Friday at Sunday River, Maine.
Barrett clocked a two-run combined effort of 2 minutes, 14.2 seconds to outdistance Jitloff by 0.37 seconds. Jitloff, fourth after the first run, clocked 2:14.39, and Canada’s Robbie Dixon, third after the opening run, held that position to finish in 2:14.58.
Rounding out the top five were Americans Jake Zamansky in fourth (2:15.19) and Thursday’s GS winner, Warner Nickerson, in fifth at 2:15.37.
J1 racer Tommy Ford stood 22nd after the first run but clocked the fastest second-run time, a sizzling 1:07.45, to climb all the way to seventh overall. Dartmouth’s Dave Chodounsky was second fastest in 1:07.49 and finished 12th overall.
Sunday River hosts the first of two NorAm Super Series slalom races on Saturday.
