Mt. Mansfield Ski Club & Academy Announces the Addition of Full-Time Academy

Mt. Mansfield Ski Club & Academy (MMSCA) is excited to announce the addition of a Full-Time Academy to their program offerings beginning in Fall 2020. For over 85 years, MMSCA has built a reputation for providing rigorous academic and athletic programs for aspiring student-athletes, and the addition of our Full-Time Academy program will help us perpetuate that tradition of excellence.

The new Full-Time program will complement the Winter-Term Academy and Junior Programs that have been such important parts of the organization’s historic success. The Board of Directors is committed to continuing the Winter-Term Academy program so that all student-athletes have the freedom to choose the best program to pursue their goals and dreams.

The Full-Time Academy program is an Approved Independent School by the Vermont Agency of Education. In keeping with their commitment to academic achievement, the school offers advanced courses and electives that help our students stand out among their peers from other ski academies. 

The athletic philosophy of the Full-Time program is based on a physical literacy approach that uses complementary sports to build athleticism in the off-season. MMSCA believes that this long-term development approach focused on building versatile athletes is the best way to ensure that our student-athletes reach their maximum athletic potential.

This program will take advantage of MMSCA’s world-class academic and athletic facilities, and their location in the vibrant mountain town of Stowe. Stowe Mountain Resort is situated on Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak, and the race venue, Main Street, is widely known as one of the premier alpine venues in the country. In addition, their new gym, built in 2017, and Academic Building set for completion in 2020, create the perfect environment for student-athletes to work toward their goals. 

“The fact that MMSCA is expanding its offerings and adding a full-time program is wonderful,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard CEO Tiger Shaw. “MMSCA is one of the older Clubs in the country, and is very close to my heart since I started my career there before climbing to the international level. MMSCA remains a leader in the ski racing world and has helped produced many athletes who make it to the world stage. I am proud of what MMSCA has accomplished since 1920!”
