Updated Jan. 14 at 5:15 am ET: Hungarian speed skier Edit Miklos was hospitalized after crashing into the finish area of the Bad Kleinkirchheim super-G race. In a long right turn coming into the finish, Miklos was pulled into the back seat, straining her right knee. She missed the final gates, skiing into the finish area with weight on her left leg and appears to have crashed intentionally to stop herself. Early reports that she lost consciousness were unsubstantiated.

At the hospital, she was diagnosed with a torn ligament in her knee, which requires surgery. Miklos will miss the Olympic Winter Games next month.

Miklos was almost exactly one year out from her injury in Zauchensee, Austria, that led to surgeries in both knees. She returned to snow in August and skied to 14th place in the downhill at Lake Louise in December. Miklos has earned two World Cup podium results in her career, both third-place results in downhill.
