Austrian speed skier Sabrina Maier has suffered a torn ligament and meniscus in her left knee during training in South America, according to a Thursday post on her Facebook page. She has already undergone surgery and will start the recovery process for this season-ending injury.

Last season, Maier’s top World Cup result was 19th place in the alpine combined at Val d’Isere, France. She also earned a top 30 result during the Olympic test event super-G in Jeongseon, South Korea, in February. She ended the 2016-17 Europa Cup season ranked fifth overall and took home the downhill title.

The Austrian is just one in a string of injured World Cup stars. Austrians Julia Gruenwald, Bernadette Lorenz and Rosina Schneeberger have all be sidelined due to various ailments. Slovakia’s Veronika Velez Zuzulova injured her right knee, but still hopes to be back in time for the Olympics.
