VETERAN U.S. SKI TEAM speed racer Scott Macartney is back home in Washington resting and recovering after undergoing successful hip surgery at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado.
Macartney, 29, was diagnosed with what he said was a torn labrum in his right hip that became more painful and stiff during the last few months of the World Cup alpine season. Although Macartney said the surgery “ended up being a bit more involved than I thought going in,” he expected to be fully recovered in time for the start of next season.
Macartney said he’s unsure when he will be back on snow, but he definitely will not take part in a ski team training camp in May. He’s targeting a return toward the end of June or early July.
