KVITFJELL, Norway — A men’s World Cup downhill training run was canceled Wednesday due to heavy snowfall.
Another training run is scheduled for Thursday, ahead of Friday’s super combined race and Saturday’s downhill. A super G is set for Sunday as the men prep for next week’s World Cup Finals. Kvitfjell race official Per Lund said the weather forecast for Thursday ''looks positive'' and there should be no problems staging the training run.
Kvitfjell's course, Olympiabakken, was designed by former Swiss downhill great Bernhard Russi before the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Defending overall champ Benni Raich of Austria leads Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway, 945 points to 868, in the battle for this season’s supremacy.
