DEFENDING NORAM downhill and super G champion Erik Fisher and Julia Littman, the 2006 NorAm DH champion, will miss the rest of the season because of injury, U.S. Medical Director Richard Quincy said.
Fisher underwent surgery this week for a torn left anterior cruciate ligament after a downhill crash Nov. 24 in a World Cup at Canada's Lake Louise Ski Area. "This will make me more hungry to do well next season," Fisher said. "I'm expecting to be back on skis next summer and take part in the training camps."
Littman tore her right ACL in a training crash Nov. 17 at Copper Mountain, and also will be out for the season.
"These athletes were both poised for a great season based on their summer and fall training and the results their teammates are now producing. We're anxious to have them back on snow soon and we wish them the best for a speedy recovery," Hunt said.
Both athletes are in their third season with the U.S. Ski Team. Surgery for each took place at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail.
