Karbon hurting, but will race GS on Saturday
Denise Karbon will compete in a giant slalom race in Germany on Saturday, three days after breaking her left hand in training.
MILAN, Italy — Denise Karbon will compete in a giant slalom race in Germany on Saturday, three days after breaking her left hand in training.
The Italian, who won the opening four giant slalom races of the season and finished third in the fifth race, will race in Ofterschwang but won't take part in Sunday's slalom.
''I'll be in the race without any particular expectations, trying to do my best to limit the damage and take home as many points as possible,'' Karbon said Friday. ''The hand hurts whenever I move it. I can't push and I can't put weight on the pole. It hurts every time I hit a gate, but I have to grit my teeth.''
After the weekend, Karbon will have X-rays in Milan to see if her broken bone moved during the race.
