Junior ski racers chase summer training around the globe
It’s that time of year when ski racers are taking off for summer training. Planes are filled with ski bags, oversized backpacks and ski boots to the confusion of fellow travelers. “Where are you going skiing this time of year?” they often ask. For the last few months, athletes have been enjoying snow in Oregon and California while other groups jet set around the Northern Hemisphere to glaciers in Europe.
Stratton Mountain School athletes flew across the country to Mt. Hood, Ore.
Sugar Bowl Ski Team and Academy athletes found snow in their own backyard, participating in a June camp at Boreal.
Green Mountain Valley School campers found themselves in the land of Vikings for the Fourth of July.
It’s always a good day when you get to train with Olympian Ted Ligety at Mt. Hood.
Meanwhile, Mount Mansfield Winter Academy had a huge group of athletes in France this June.
Like many ski racers on the West Coast, athletes at the Loveland Ski Club were able to train at their home hill into June.
Do you have exciting summer camp and dryland photos to share? We want to feature them in The Waxroom and on Instagram. Be sure to tag us in your posts or email your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration.
