Jeremy Bloom, second in Voss, finishes season with moguls title{mosimage}VOSS, Norway (Feb. 26) – Finn Mikko Ronkainen, who knocked Jeremy Bloom (Loveland, CO) from potential gold medalist to silver in moguls at the 2003 World Championships, ended Bloom’s record-tying victory streak at six Saturday as he won the final World Cup moguls event of the season. Bloom, who already had clinched the World Cup title, finished second; World Championships begin March 17 in Ruka, Finland.

Ronkainen, the moguls champion when the Worlds were held on the Olympic course at Utah’s Deer Valley two years, received 25.87 for his final run after qualifying second (behind Australian Dale Begg-Smith). Bloom, who qualified third, started his string of moguls and duals win at Deer Valley in late January; Saturday, he had 25.39 while Travis Cabral (South Lake tahoe, CA) was sixth with Toby Dawson (Vail, CO) seventh.

In the women’s event, Japan’s Aiko Uemura won with 25.15 points; Austrian Margarita Marbler finished second at 24.81. Laurel Shanley (Squaw Valley, CA) was fifth and Hannah Kearney (Norwich, VT) sixth with Emiko Torito (Denver) in 11th place.
