After several years on the Swiss C-team, 23-year-old Ian Gut and his team have decided to compete for Liechtenstein in future ski seasons. The creation of a new environment should breathe new life into the former Swiss skier’s career.

“Ian Gut has decided to change his nation because of his career plan,” says Stephane Cattin, Alpine Director at Swiss-Ski. “We thank Ian for the excellent cooperation in recent years and wish him every success for his future. ”

“I am fortunate enough to have the Liechtenstein passport and my main goal is to receive new ideas and impulses from new trainers,” explains Gut, who is also the younger brother of 2016 women’s World Cup overall champion Lara Gut. “As we will form a much smaller team, there are other opportunities and programs tailored to the individual. Already at the age of 13, I started in the Ski Club Triesenberg for Liechtenstein and I really enjoyed the approach practiced there. I am confident that this change will have a positive impact on my career and therefore look to the future with confidence. ”

Thanks to the help and close cooperation with Swiss-Ski, his application was accepted by the Liechtenstein Ski Association and confirmed by the FIS. Gut will belong to the European Cup Group led by Wolfgang Auderer.

“I would like to thank Swiss-Ski for their support in recent years and for their great professionalism in this matter,” says the 23-year-old skier.
