Ski racers have a need for speed, and the student competitors at Gould Academy are no exception. In partnership with Sunday River Resort, the new slopeside Speed Works tuning facility opened in the Gould Academy Competition Center at the base of Barker Mountain.

This state-of-the-art facility houses a new Wintersteiger tuning machine now manned by Sunday River technicians with expert qualifications. The goal is to provide a full-service and high-end equipment preparation to Gould Academy ski racers.

“Equipment performance is top priority for our athletes,” says Kurt Simard, Director of On Snow Programs at Gould Academy. “The Speed Works facility not only strengthens our athlete’s competitive edge, but solidifies Sunday River as our home mountain and most strategic partner.”

Since opening in October, athletes at Gould have already had their skis serviced by Speed Works and Sunday River technicians and are impressed with the results.

“Our commitment to offering top-notch snow conditions to Gould and its athletes is steadfast, so we’re very proud to be able to offer the Speed Works service to help their racers excel on the slopes as well,” says Jeff Rosenberg, Vice President of Skier Services for Sunday River.
