After two race series in Argentina, South American Cup (SAC) action returned to El Colorado, Chile, for speed races. Competition began with a super-G and alpine combined for both men and women on Monday.

In the women’s super-G, Aleksandra Prokopyeva of Russia took the win by 0.64 seconds over Manon Campillo of France. Prokopyeva’s fellow countrywoman Elena Yakovishina took third place, rounding out the podium with a total time of 1:12.57. Casey Adams of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail was the top American in 19th place.

In the men’s super-G, Slovenia’s Klemen Kosi dominated the field with a final time of 1:08.40, 0.32 seconds ahead of Great Britain’s Jack Gower. Guglielmo Bosca of Italy snagged the last podium position, 0.38 seconds away from the win. Alexander Birkner was the top American in 42nd place.

After the super-G, athletes ran a slalom course for the alpine combined portion of the day. Current SAC Overall Leader Nuria Pau of Spain pushed ahead, coming back from from a two-second deficit in the super-G run to take the win by 0.45 seconds in the ladies’ race. Prokopyeva skied to second place while Yakovishina held steady in third place, 0.71 seconds away from the win. Adams was once again the top American in 18th place.

On the men’s side, Rasmus Windingstad of Norway took his second SAC win of the season with a total time of 1:47.03, just 0.13 seconds ahead of Miha Hrobat of Slovenia. Bosca held onto his third-place position after the slalom run, 0.38 seconds away from the win. The top American, Birkner, moved up 12 spots into 30th place.
