26-year-old Slovenian, Zan Kranjec, captured his first career World Cup victory on Wednesday, taking the men’s giant slalom in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, with a combined time of 2:50.08 seconds.

Kranjec battled from fourth place after the first run and bested Switzerland’s Loic Meillard in second place by 0.19 seconds. Rounding out the podium in third was Frenchman, Mathieu Faivre, 0.50 seconds back. Austrian superstar, Marcel Hirscher, finished an uncharacteristic sixth place, 0.77 seconds off of Kranjec’s winning pace.

The American contingent was led by Tommy Ford in 14th place and was followed closely by Ted Ligety in 15th.
