BREAKING: Seymour and St. Germain Take NCAA Slaloms, Utah Takes Team Title

Denver and the University of Vermont walked away with the final individual alpine titles of the 2019 NCAA Skiing Championships on Saturday in Stowe, Vermont. Under bluebird skies and near-perfect racing conditions, The University of Denver’s Jett Seymour emerged victorious in the men’s slalom and Vermont’s Laurence St. Germain won the women’s race.

Seymour bested the men’s field with a two-run time of 1:41.49 seconds. Seymour was joined on the podium by the University of Alaska, Anchorage’s Liam Wallace in second place, 0.67 seconds back, and the University of New Mexico’s Vegard Busengdal in third, 0.84 seconds off of Seymour’s pace.

On the women’s side, St. Germain completed a rare sweep of the series, following up her giant slalom win from Thursday with a commanding win in the slalom. The Quebec native’s combined time of 1:47.00 was a massive 2.58 seconds ahead of second-place finisher, the University of Utah’s Roni Remme. The women’s podium was rounded out by the University of Colorado’s Mikaela Tommy, 2.81 seconds back.

In the final team standings, the University of Utah took home the NCAA Championship trophy. The University of Vermont finished in second and the University of Colorado rounded out the team podium in third.
