BREAKING: Clement Noel wins Wengen Slalom
France’s Clement Noel has finally unseated the Austrian men from the top of the podium in Sunday’s slalom in Wengen. Noel stood on the World Cup podium for the first time in Adelboden in the last technical series when he finished second in slalom. Sunday marks his first career World Cup win.
After a slow first run, Marcel Hirscher sat in an uncharacteristic fifth. The Austrian channeled his frustration into his skiing and laid down the fastest second run by 0.39 seconds in an attempt to come out of the race back on top. But it wasn’t enough. His teammate, Manuel Feller, squeaked out a second place finish by 0.02 hundredths of a second, and Noel snuck ahead of Feller by 0.08 hundredths.
