On the Ruthie’s downhill course:

“It definitely has all the elements. It has the flat up top where you have to be a good glider, it has the jumps which are pretty big right now. It also has the big super G turns, a quick, turny section and some big downhill turns with lots of rolls and bumps.
“It’s one of the beast I’ve ever seen on the World Cup. This really does have everything.”
    — Stacey Cook, U.S. Ski Team

"It’s a really technical hill, and I do think it kind of levels the playing field in that the big girls can’t rely so heavily on the gliding sections, and so I think it’s a really, really awesome stop on the circuit. We need more like this."
    — Libby Ludlow, U.S. Ski Team

"I like it because there’s a lot more stuff going on and there’s stuff coming at you.
I like technical, I like gliding, I pretty much like everything."
    — Leanne Smith, U.S. Ski Team

“We’ve been waiting for this for a long time. We really are excited to have downhill. Downhill is an event we’ve missed on the women’s side because we’ve had such a strong team. Our speed team has been dominant for a number of years and now we finally get the chance to show what this team can do at home so that’s pretty exciting.”
    — Jesse Hunt, U.S. alpine director

“I’m kinda bummed out about it. [It’s] right after the TV break. Hopefully they’ll be a lot of slippers because if [the snow] is really coming down hard it could be not that great. Snow definitely has a big effect on the track you’re going to go a lot slower. All I can hope is that my skis are rocket ships and I can plow through all the powder.”
    — Lindsey Vonn, U.S. Ski Team, who won both of this week’s training runs, on her No. 16 start position for the downhill

“Lindsey killed it today. I watched her video. She was so on line, so confident, just driving forward. I know I can do that.”
    — Kaylin Richardson, U.S. Ski Team
