Anna Fenninger suffers season-ending knee injury in Soelden
Two-time overall World Cup champion Anna Fenninger suffered a serious knee injury in a training accident today in Soelden, Austria, that will require surgery. Fenninger was training on a giant slalom course in the “Ice Box” when she slid on her inside ski and fell. She had to be removed from the slope with a sled and was airlifted to Innsbruck for an evaluation.
“Anna has suffered a serious ligament injury in her right knee which requires a surgical intervention. It involves a tear of … the anterior cruciate ligament,” said Austrian team doctor Christian Hoser. “Moreover, she has also suffered a tear of the patellar tendon in her right knee, which must also be treated surgically.”
Fenninger will undergo surgery at the Hochrum Clinic in Innsbruck today.
