2004-2005 U.S. Ski Team alpine squad announced{mosimage}USSA has announced the names of the 22 men and 17 women who will form the U.S. Ski Team’s alpine squad for the 2004-05 season.

Prominent names on the list are Daron Rahlves, Kirsten Clark and Bode Miller. The only new face on the whole squad is Christopher Beckmann, from the N.Y. Ski Education Foundation program at Lake Placid.

Julia Mancuso missed A-Team criteria this year, while several other women made it for the first time.

Notably missing from the men’s team are Thomas Vonn, Greg Hardy and Adam Cole. Meanwhile the women’s team lost Kristen Bybee, Lauren Van Ness, Rachel Roosevelt, Lesley Lemasurier and Megan Hughes.

In a departure from the policy of previous years, the team used the sixth FIS points list to determine which athletes had met the criteria. The sixth list was effective in early April. In years past, the team has used the seventh list, which reflects athletes’ mid-April results. Those races will be used, however, in next year’s selection process.

USSA switched to using the April list to move up their planning process. The change also gives athletes time to consider college acceptances.
