Peter Gerdol Will Succeed Atle Skaardal as Ladies’ World Cup Race Director

The ladies alpine World Cup tour is having a major change for the future with Atle Skaardal retiring from the role of Race Director after 14 years.

The two-time world champion in super-G will become the FIS Alpine Technical Expert for big projects like the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Game and FIS Alpine World Ski Championship candidates. Another big task will be the project of the Injury Surveillance System.

Skaardal passes the ball to the former FIS Continental Cup Coordinator, Peter Gerdol, a role he has held since 2014.

“I’m very pleased and honored that FIS believes in my skills and gave me the opportunities to make a big step forward in my career,” said Gerdol “ Taking over Atle Skaardal’s position as Chief Ladies’ Race Director it’s a big challenge but I’m highly motivated to keep the high quality Alte and the team built over the past 15 years.”

“Taking part in the summer inspections will be my first step so I will get in touch with all the organizers I don’t know yet and prepare the path for the next season as best as I can,” he continued. “One of my first goals is integrating myself with my future team, composed of Race Director World Cup Ladies Speed Event Race Director Jean-Philippe Vulliet, World Cup Ladies Technical Event Race Director Markus Mayr, Technical Operations Manager Andreas Krönner, and the new Ladies’ Alpine Media Giulia Candiago.

“I will listen and observe what the market and the stakeholders are requesting with the purpose to create long-term value into the Ladies’ World Cup,” said Gerdol.
