Robinson Will Head to Killington, to Decide on Racing This Week

New Zealander Alice Robinson announced on Monday morning that she will travel to Killington, Vermont, ahead of this weekend’s World Cup races, reversing an announcement she made earlier this month.

Robinson disclosed that she was recovering from a bone bruise suffered in Soelden and was advised by doctors to take time off in order for the injury to properly heal. Initially, the 17-year-old leader of the giant slalom standings said she would be sitting out the World Cup races in Killington with hopes of returning to racing in Europe in December. According to today’s announcement, progress has been ahead of schedule and she has been able to train pain-free in Colorado and has decided to make the trip to New England.

“I’ve had a couple days training in Colorado and I haven’t got any swelling or pain, and it’s going well,” she said via Instagram. “So now the plan has changed and I’m going to head to Killington, and continue to train for a couple more days and then make the final decision about racing on Friday.”

Robinson currently leads the World Cup GS standings after her surprise win in last month in Soelden. The races in Killington are scheduled for GS on Saturday, November 30, and slalom on Sunday, December 1.
