The Italian Ski Federation (FISI) announced today that speed star Christof Innerhofer will not attend this week’s World Cup races in Beaver Creek, Colorado, and has instead returned to Italy.

The 34-year-old World Champion tore his left ACL at last spring’s Italian National Championships and has spent his prep-period rehabbing and slowly making his return to snow. The Italian has spent the last few weeks training in Copper Mountain, Colorado, with hopes of returning to World Cup competition in North America, but decided late last week to continue to rest his knee.

According to FISI, Innerhofer is now aiming for a World Cup return at Val Gardena later this month.
