Gear Guide: Huetter signs with HEAD for upcoming season
HEAD has announced that Austrian speed skier Cornelia Huetter decided to join the World Cup Rebels team for the upcoming Olympic season.
Huetter made her World Cup debut in 2011 and it was not long before she was on the World Cup podium for the first time in December 2013 at Val d’Isere, France. Since then, Huetter has amassed one win and ten podiums on the World Cup despite spending most of the 2016-17 season injured after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament and damaging the meniscus in her right knee during a training crash.
“I am very happy to be part of the HEAD family from next season!,” Huetter commented. “As an athlete you want to develop further and always look for the best possible success. And I am sure that I can achieve my goals with HEAD best. I still have to wait a bit for my knee injuries, but I cannot wait to get back on skis and go through the first tests in August. I am absolutely optimistic to be able to start with an excellent material in the World Cup and Olympic winter.”
Rainer Salzgeber, leader of the HEAD World Cup Rebels program, added, “I am delighted that Cornelia Huetter is joining Head. Connie is a strong and powerful racer who has already proved that she can race at the top of the sport and win races. She joins a successful and powerful team, adding to the strength in depth of the team.”
CEO of HEAD Johan Eliasch echoed Salzgerber’s remarks.
“I am delighted that Cornelia has joined the HEAD World Cup Rebels team,” Eliasch said. “Cornelia is a rising star in downhill and super-G, and already a proven race winner. I look forward to seeing her add to her successes over the coming seasons.”
It is hoped that Huetter will return from injury adding to the strength of the Women’s World Cup Rebels team. Huetter joins the speed team that includes Lindsey Vonn, Lara Gut, Anna Veith and new member Tina Weirather.
