Gear Guide: Brem signs with Fischer heading into 2018 Olympic Games
When one season ends, another begins, and there is plenty going on at Fischer. The first contracts for the 2017-18 season have already been signed. Austrian skier Eva-Maria Brem will be competing with skis, boots and bindings from Fischer in the upcoming season. Reigning Super-G World Champion Nici Schmidhofer and Austrian athlete Roland Leitinger are continuing to place their trust in Fischer.
28-year-old Brem won the giant slalom discipline title in the 2015-16 season. Her comeback after a tibia-fibula fracture last October is planned for the upcoming season – the success of her equipment plays a crucial role in this for her.
“After the injury and successful recovery, I’ll finally be able to make it to the mountains again soon with my skis,” said Brem. “Because of the injury I had a lot of time to think in recent months – about the past and the future, achievements and changes that are necessary. I asked myself what equipment, which brand and which people I would like to have with me when I compete in the Olympic winter season. I made a conscious decision in favor of Fischer and will be proud to be a member of the Fischer Race Family from now on and part of Fischer’s success story. The boots I won the 15-16 GS World Cup with will now be joined by the skis made for them. The journey with Fischer begins right now, and I can’t wait to find my race setup for next season.”
Schmidhofer has signed a two-year extension of her contract with her ski sponsor Fischer and is hoping for additional medals in the upcoming Olympic season.
“The collaboration with Fischer is awesome, and I’m happy that we will be able to make further progress together in the future, too,” she shared. “The goal is of course to win further medals in PyeongChang and at the 2019 World Championships in Are.”
Leitinger, a World Championship giant slalom silver medalist, is also extending his contract with the ski manufacturer.
“I’m delighted about the contract extension with Fischer. Our racing family sticks together, in good times and also in not so good times, and as you can see, it pays off,” said the racer from Salzburg.
Racing Director Siegi Voglreiter is satisfied with his Austrian team for 17-18.
“I’m pleased about the new signing Eva-Maria Brem and the contract extensions with our successful WSC medalists in St. Moritz,” Voglreiter said. “It’s nice to see that they trust their equipment and want to make their way with Fischer also in the future.”
