Two athletes, Austrian Nadine Fest and Italian Laura Pirovano, crashed in Sunday’s super-G race in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Fest flew into the safety netting and initially, the team suspected she suffered a heavy knee injury, but there is good news. Upon further examination, Austrian team doctor Christian Fink, who was on-site, diagnosed her with a tear of the inner ligament in her right knee as well as some bruises. She’ll only be sidelined for two to three weeks.

Pirovano was not so lucky. The reigning World Junior Champion in giant slalom also took a brutal crash into the b-net and was taken of the hill in a sled. She underwent an MRI scan and has a suspected ACL and meniscus tear. In the coming days, the 19-year-old will undergo further evaluations by the FISI Medical Commission, which will confirm the diagnosis and recovery times.
