An unfortunate fall momentarily stopped the recovery path of Italian speed skier Elena Fanchini. The 33-year-old veteran is returning to the team after defeating a disease that had struck her at the beginning of 2018.

Fanchini had returned to training at the beginning of November on the European glaciers and a few days ago had left for Copper, Colorado, where she would be participating in further training sessions in order to prepare for the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, during a training session in super-G, the Artogne native stumbled into a small mistake that caused her to fall, suffering a left-knee contusion, a fracture of the proximal fibula, and a fractured finger. Now, the eldest of the Fanchini sisters will return to Italy to be evaluated by the Italian Ski Federation (FISI) Medical Commission, which will determine further steps.
