American superstar, Mikaela Shiffrin, won the women’s slalom at the World Championships in Are, Sweden, on Saturday to close out the event for the women. Shiffrin finished with a two-run time of 1:57.05 seconds.

Shiffrin sat in third after the first run and was able to take the gold over second-place finisher, Anna Swenn-Larsson of Sweden, who finished 0.58 seconds back. Swenn-Larsson’s silver is the host country’s first medal of the Championships. Slovakia’s Petra Vlhova finished in third place, 1.03 seconds off the pace.

American Paula Moltzan finished in 18th place and Nina O’Brien unfortunately hiked in her second run and finished well back of the leaders.
