Austria’s Nicole Schmidhofer once again found her groove in the early season, taking the win on day two of the Lake Louise downhill after winning both downhill races in 2018.

Mikaela Shiffrin followed up a 10th place finish in Friday’s downhill with a podium finish on Saturday, just 0.13 seconds off of Schmidhofer’s pace. Her teammate, Alice McKennis also found the top 10, 0.95 seconds off of Schmidhofer. The speed series in Lake Louise is McKennis’ first series back after a major injury kept her off skis for over a year. Alice Merryweather also finished strong in 11th.

Italy’s Francesca Marsaglia charged into third from bib 22, her first World Cup podium at 29 years of age.
