Okemo Mountain School is a winter sports academy dedicated to delivering rigorous academic curriculum while providing an intense on-snow training schedule. OMS empowers student-athletes to achieve their athletic dreams without compromising their academic goals. The school is in the small town of Ludlow, Vermont at the foot of Okemo Mountain, which provides amazing access to multiple training venues across all disciplines.
Unlike many snow sports academies, Okemo Mountain School’s main focus is on Winter Term participation, though OMS does also offer a small Full Term academic program as well for local student-athletes. The academy encourages those seeking winter enrollments to choose the five month Winter Term, but provides shorter programs called Target Terms. Target Terms range from ten weeks to three months long.
Academically, OMS works to meet the specific needs of each student-athlete. Each winter student-athlete has an individual curriculum based on their sending school. The goal is to return student-athletes back to their sending schools in sync with their classmates.
OMS student-athletes spend their mornings training on snow at Okemo Mountain, where a close coach to athlete ratio allows much individualized attention even in a group setting. After on-snow training, student-athletes return to OMS for an afternoon filled with academic classes, as well as dryland strength and conditioning. Community is a core value at OMS and student-athletes engage in social activities and community service projects in addition to their academics and athletics.
Okemo Mountain School welcomes applicants entering 5-12th grade with a desire to achieve their personal best academically and athletically in a community that fosters a sense of belonging.
