Swiss make 2015-16 alpine team selections
Swiss-Ski publicly announced its selections for the 2015-16 alpine team on Wednesday, noting that the men’s national squad (top-ranked group) has grown in size despite Didier Defago’s retirement. Former B Team athlete Gino Caviezel made the strong leap up, and he now joins Patrick Kueng, Sandro Viletta, Beat Feuz, and Carlo Janka among the ranks.
For the women, several key retirements have led to a smaller team in the upper ranks. Only Lara Gut, Wendy Holdener, and Fabienne Suter remain on the national squad level, half as many as they had this past season.
In total, 45 men and 36 women will represent Switzerland on the slopes in the 2015-16 season.
