Sweden’s Vasaloppet tops 47,000 entries{mosimage}The final number is 47,089. That, according to a press release, is the record number of registrations for Vasaloppet Week, which begins Friday. Warm weather and a semi-snowless winter had organizers worried and according to Secretary General Rolf Hammar, the 90km classic race is still threatened. The 30km and 45km races – the TjejVasan, KortVasan, SkejtVasan and HalvVasan – “can be considered as secure.” But weather developments this week, on top of a massive snow shoveling effort, will determine whether the Vasa is held.
