Slovenia’s Matic Skube captured the gold medal in the men’s slalom at the 2007 FIS World Junior Championships, with Austria’s Marcel Hirscher taking silver to add to his GS gold and Switzerland’s Beat Feuz nabbing bronze to add to his downhill gold.
FLACHAU, Austria — Slovenia’s Matic Skube captured the gold medal in the men’s slalom at the 2007 FIS World Junior Championships, with Austria’s Marcel Hirscher taking silver to add to his GS gold and Switzerland’s Beat Feuz nabbing bronze to add to his downhill gold.
    Austria’s Armin Treindl was fourth and Swiss skier Mauro Caviezel fifth, while Travis Ganong was the top American, placing 11th.
    Fourth in the first run, Skube won with a two-run time of 1 minute, 49.45 seconds, .11 better than Hirscher and a whopping 1.28 better than Feuz.
    American Tommy Ford was 22nd and Max Hammer was 25th, while Will Brandenburg and Jacob Lund did not finish their first runs. Bump Heldman was a second-run DNF. No Canadians finished.

Feuz takes combined gold
    Switzerland’s Feuz was tough to beat in the paper combined event, taking the gold medal. Austria’s Bernhard Graf took combined silver and Slovenia’s Miha Kuerner bronze. American Ganong was sixth and Ford eighth in the paper combined.
