Weibrecht, Fisher lead U.S. men in NorAms

Andrew Weibrecht finished second in a NorAm downhill Friday, leading two other Americans into the top three in men's and women's downhills at Lake Louise. U.S. skiers filled five of the top 10 places in both the men's and the women's race.

 

LAKE LOUISE, Alberta — Andrew Weibrecht finished second in a NorAm downhill Friday, leading two other Americans into the top three in men's and women's downhills at Lake Louise. U.S. skiers filled five of the top 10 places in both the men's and the women's race.
    Stefan Guay of Canada won the men's race for the second consecutive day while fellow Canadian Britt Janyk took the women's race.
    Guay's winning time was 1 minute, 46.39 seconds, with Weibrecht, the silver medalist in super G last season at the World Junior Alpine Championships, second among the 98 racers in 1:46.90. Completing the podium was Erik Fisher, the defending NorAm super G champion (1:47.14).
    In the women's race, Janyk's win came in 1:51.44 with Czech Klara Krizova runner-up in 1:52.00. Third place went to Chelsea Marshall with a 1:52.38 clocking.
    The next NorAm Cup races begin Monday at Panorama, B.C., with a super G and a super combined for men and for women.
