World Cup overall champion Lindsey Vonn is back home in the United States after spending some time in Europe testing skis, competing in the Verbier High Five charity event and training on the World Championships downhill course at Val d’Isere, France.
Vonn assured Ski Racing that she was in fine health after what she termed a “stupid” crash in the dual slalom race at Verbier last weekend. She said the light was flat and she didn’t see a jump that had been built into the course. “I guess it looked pretty bad, but I was not hurt at all,” Vonn said.

WORLD CUP OVERALL champion Lindsey Vonn is back home in the United States after spending some time in Europe testing Rossignol skis, competing in the Verbier High Five charity event and training on the World Championships downhill course at Val d’Isere, France.
Vonn assured Ski Racing that she was in fine health after what she termed a “stupid” crash in the dual slalom race at Verbier. She said the light was flat and she didn’t see a jump that had been built into the course. “I guess it looked pretty bad, but I was not hurt at all,” Vonn said.
Vonn and Germany’s Maria Riesch were among a handful of racers who ran some training runs April 6-7 on the Rhone-Alpes slope on Solaise, the mountain that will be used for the women’s events at the 2009 World Championships at Val d’Isere. Vonn called the course very challenging and “relatively short, but at the bottom the distance stacks up and it turns into a super G-like section.” Vonn added that she felt the racers who trained on the hill will have a definite advantage next season when worlds medals will be on the line.
