Treble Cone has announced extra snowmaking facilities for the 2017 season in addition to the new SMI snowmaking system recently commissioned on Upper East Rider. The new snow guns will be added to the fleet as an investment by Treble Cone Racing Academy (TCRA) to support the snowmaking production on all of Treble Cone’s accessible snowmaking terrain and for the training venues, Big Skite and Sinclair’s runs.

Guenther Birgmann, director of TCRA, has provided six additional fully automatic SUFAG Snow Guns, which are currently being shipped to New Zealand from the U.S. These will be added to the five SuperPuma Snow Guns and nine new hydrants installed over the summer. Completing the snow making capabilities to service Easy Rider from the top of Home Basin all the way down to the base lodge, and providing security around snow cover on all main trails in the Home Basin.

“We are excited about being able to contribute towards Treble Cone’s mountain operation and their snowmaking production,” said Birgmann. “This upgrade assures a more secured season opening and availability on skiable terrain in early season! The partnership between Treble Cone and TCRA continues to strengthen as we continue to work together on future projects that will increase the guest experience for all snowsports enthusiasts at Treble Cone.”

“This project has been many years in the making,” Jackie van der Voort, CEO of Treble Cone, commented. “The snowmaking investment from TCRA, secures their operation and trainable snow surface quality, without limiting Treble Cone’s snowmaking capacity on the public runs. Treble Cone is very appreciative of the dedication from all involved with the implementation of the new snow guns. Both TC and TCRA share the passion of snow and working towards everyone spending more time on it!”

The 6 SUFAG Snow Guns will be installed after opening day as they are due to arrive from the U.S. on June 23.

This upcoming season, TCRA will be working with the Austrian National Team, the U.S. Ski Team, and the Swedish Ski Team, all setting up camp at Treble Cone. TCRA is the world leader in summer race training programs for alpine ski racing, hosting over 100 international academy athletes, dozens of international guest academies and clubs, plus multiple national teams with World Cup winners, World Champions and Olympic Champions. In addition to the international guests, the investment will assist local junior athletes with their training as TC and TCRA work together on a joint project for the Team TC youth program.

“This extensive investment in new equipment should enable skiers and boarders at all levels to enjoy the mountain from top to bottom. With more earthworks and projects coming together for the start of the season, the team at TC are excited to open the mountain and present the new additions,” added van der Voort.
