TORINO: Freestyle: Cooper leads aerials qualifying; Lindsey, Cook out{mosimage}SAUZE D’OULX, Italy – American Jana Lindsey placed 16th and Emily Cook was 19th in Tuesday night’s women’s aerials qualifying. Neither placed well enough to qualify for Wednesday’s finals.

Australian Jacqui Cooper recorded a two-jump score of 213.36 and finished first. China took the next two spots with Xinxin Guo second (204.87) and Nina Li third (188.93).

The top 12 finishers qualified for Wednesday night’s finals.

Lindsey posted 150.23 points to finish 16th and Cook had 144.42 points to place 19th. Both are first-time Olympians.

Lindsey, who has posted three top-10 finishes in World Cup events this season, got a 79.38 on her first jump, a back-full-full. On her second jump, a back-full-double full, she slapped back and got a 70.85.

Cook fell forward on her first jump (bFF) and got just a 60.32. Her second (bLF) was worth a solid 84.10, but not enough to advance.
